In Reception we follow the Letters and Sounds framework.
Letters and sounds is a focused teaching strategy. Phase 1 supports the development of speaking and listening. Phase 2-5 is a systematic approach to phonics teaching and word recognition skills. Phase 6 focuses on word specific spelling.
In September the children will start on Phase 2 and are expected to be secure at Phase 3 by July.
The whole Reception cohort is streamed into 4 groups for 15 minutes every day to ensure every child's needs are met.
