Welcome to Year 4's General Class Information page. Here you can find information regarding class trips, P.E. kits, swimming, reading, homework, spellings and times tables amongst other general information that may be of interest.

Swimming

Children participate in weekly swimming lessons throughout their time in Year 4.  Swimming lessons this year will take place at Moss Side Swimming Baths (Monday - Class 10) and Withington Swimming Baths (Tuesday - Class 9).

P.E. Kits
Your child must have the following items in order to do P.E.:

St. Catherine's RC Primary P.E. T-shirt (white/burgundy)

School P.E. Shorts/Plain black/grey jogging bottoms.

Trainers (not pumps)

Reading
Each night, Year 4 students are expected to read at home. They will come home with two 'take home books' which comes with a guidance bookmark for parents. These consist of comprehension questions to support understanding of the text. They also choose a book from the main library every Friday.

We would appreciate it if you could sign the reading diary every time you listen to your child read.

We ask that children record their daily reading into their reading record each day, recording the book name and page number.

Times Tables Rock Stars

Times tables form the basis of a great deal of mathematical learning and therefore it is vital that the children know their times tables and related division facts quickly and off-by-heart. Your child can practice on Times Table Rock Stars using the website or the app.  Each child has their own login which they should have recorded in their reading record.

Other resources to support times tables include Hit the Button on Top Marks, the White Rose App and also these songs:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8QU_E0u-tP4 – 4 times tables

Many thanks!
