Welcome to our Year 1 class page. We hope that you will find the information useful.

Welcome to Year 1!
Here you can find year group information regarding P.E. Kits, class trips and other general information that may be of interest.
Homework
Spelling homework will commence in Autumn 2. Spellings will be sent home at the beginning of the half term with each weeks spellings on. The children will then be tested on the following Thursday/Friday so please try to spend a few minutes practising these each night.
Phonics
We follow the Essential Letters and Sounds programme throughout St. Catherine's to provide high-quality and effective phonics teaching.
Uniform
Please can we make sure that ALL clothing (including PE kits and shoes) and water bottles are clearly labelled.
Medical
Please inform us if your child has any medical needs. If your child suffers from asthma please ensure that you have provided the class teacher with an additional inhaler and instructions of how to administer.
P.E. Kits
Your child must have the following items in order to do P.E.:
St. Catherine's RC Primary P.E. T-shirt (white/burgundy)
School P.E. Shorts/Plain black/grey jogging bottom
Trainers (not pumps)
Please remember that your child needs to wear the appropriate PE uniform, depending on the weather.

The main focus in writing for year 1 is sentence structure. The children must be able to create a clear sentence and also be able to use question and exclamation marks with confidence.

Languages
In Year 1, we begin to learn basic French songs. Please ask a member of staff if you would like to access the website below as our school username and password is required.
