Welcome to our Year 1 class page. We hope that you will find the information useful and enjoy looking at what the children have been getting up to at school

Welcome to Year 1!
Here you can find year group information regarding P.E. Kits, class trips and other general information that may be of interest.
Spelling homework will commence in Autumn 1. Spellings will be sent home each Friday, then tested on the following Friday so please try to spend a few minutes practising these each night.
Year 1's Library slot is a Friday afternoon. Please return books every Friday, if you would like your child to choose a new one.
Please can we make sure that ALL clothing (including PE kits and shoes) and water bottles are clearly labelled.
Please inform us if your child has any medical needs. If your child suffers from Asthma please ensure that you have provided the class teacher with an additional inhaler and instructions of how to administer.
In Year 1, the children have PE first thing every Wednesday morning. Please send your child into school wearing their PE kit, with their normal uniform in a bag so they can change after their session.
Your child must have the following items in order to do P.E.:
St. Catherine's RC Primary P.E. T-shirt (white/burgundy)
School P.E. Shorts/Plain black/grey jogging bottom
Trainers (not pumps)
Please remember that your child needs to wear the appropriate PE uniform, depending on the weather.

The main focus in writing for year 1 is sentence structure. The children must be able to create a clear sentence and also be able to use question and exclamation marks with confidence.
